February Monthly GREEN Challenge & Giveaway

Happy February my friend!

As we celebrate love this month I want to talk about something I love a lot: clothes. I mean, not as much as I love tea - that's a tough one to top, but I love dressing in clothing that makes me feel confident, put together, and comfortable. But not clothing that was made in a sweatshop or adds to our pollution problem.

A few photos of me in my FAVORITE sweater that I've worn at least once a week in the cooler months of the year since I bought it in December 2016.

A few years ago I discovered something upsetting: the fashion industry is the 2nd largest polluter in the world. The only industry that pollutes more is oil. Let that sink in a little. The clothes you are wearing have probably contributed to that pollution. And fast fashion has taken over the industry: inexpensive clothing intended to be worn a few times and tossed.

Buy less, buy better, wear longer!

But don't lose hope! One of the best ways you can begin to choose better for the Earth is fairly simple: buy less, buy better, wear longer.

Eco-Age, an online green marketing company, started the "30 wears" challenge. If you can't see yourself wearing an item 30 times - don't purchase it.

So this month we're celebrating love & the Earth by saying YES to 30 wears. It's simple - if you plan to purchase any clothing this month ask yourself this one question: will I wear it 30 times? Easy, right?

And of course our giveaway! This month I'm giving away $25 to my favorite eco-conscious online retailer Everlane.

Everlane works to make their clothes ethically (no sweatshops here), and using materials and processes that reduce the amount of waste and pollution created by their products. Some of my favorite everyday items are from here: jeans, t-shirts, tank tops, etc.

Crossing my fingers that you win my friend! Happy February - I hope it's filled with love.

With love & tea,
